コベストロCEOのマーカス?スタイレマンは、6月24日、ヨーロッパのプラスチック産業団体であるプラスチック?ヨーロッパ（Plastics Europe）の新会長に3年の任期で就任しました。プラスチック?ヨーロッパの抜本的な構造改革を主導したダウケミカルのハビエル?コンスタンテ氏の後任となります。スタイレマンは、サステナビリティと特にサーキュラーエコノミーに注力したいと考えています。
世界の基本理念としてのサーキュラーエコノミー
スタイレマンは、「世界が多くの课题に直面している中で、プラスチックは、持続可能な世界を作り上げるために必要不可欠であり、サーキュラーエコノミーを世界の新しい基本理念とするためにも必要です。そして、使用済み原料と廃弃物を别の製品の材料として再利用することが重要であって、いかなる状况であっても、プラスチックを地球环境に流出し続けるべきではありません。また、できる限り多くの分野で、プラスチックをサステナブルな资源として使用する必要があります。このようにプラスチックを使用することで、プラスチック产业はヨーロッパのサステナブルな発展に寄与することができるのです」と述べています。
スタイレマンは、プラスチック?ヨーロッパの新会長に加え、本年3月、ドイツ化学工業協会（VCI）の副会長にも選任されています。また、スタイレマンは、欧州化学工業評議会（Cefic ）の一員です。さらに、ヨーロッパでの産業界主導の組織?取組の一つである「持続可能な化学のための欧州テクノロジー?プラットフォーム」（SusChem）の会長でもあります。プラスチック?ヨーロッパは、パリ、フランクフルト、ブリュッセル、マドリッド、ミラン、ロンドンに拠点を有しており、会員企業100社によるポリマー製造量は、EU加盟27カ国、英国、スイス、トルコおよびノルウェーにおける製造量の9割以上を占めます。
